Employee Experience Series
AI is already changing the way we work, as evidenced by the increased anxiety surrounding AI in the workplace. From CEOs replacing support staff with AI-driven Chatbots to major companies implementing strict measures due to data leaks, it’s understandable to feel uneasy about the role of AI in our workplaces. However, a recent study from the American Staffing Association (ASA) reveals that one in three Americans are already using AI in their jobs, signaling a shift in attitudes towards AI. Generative AI, in particular, offers numerous benefits for the workplace, such as simplifying difficult tasks and improving employee satisfaction. Enterprises could potentially see a significant increase in revenue by incorporating generative AI into their operations. To better understand the impact of AI and tech tools on the way we work, we conducted an employee experience survey and compiled the findings in the Kore.ai Employee Experience (EX) Benchmark Report. This report provides valuable insights into employee satisfaction, productivity, and creating better workplace experiences. It can serve as a useful tool for uncovering what matters most to your employees. For more detailed information, you can read the full report.
About the Report:
In collaboration with 3Gem, a strategic insight specialist, Kore.ai has conducted a national study to provide unparalleled insights into Employee Experience (EX). The study involved surveying 2,000 white-collar office workers, with 1,000 respondents from the UK and 1,000 respondents from the US. All participants worked in companies with 50 employees or more and performed professional, desk, managerial, or administrative work. The survey was conducted in April and May 2023.
The Challenges of Workplace Tech
While technology has undoubtedly revolutionized our work habits, it also presents certain challenges. The abundance of workplace apps, for example, can be overwhelming for employees, leading to decreased productivity and personal wellbeing. Outdated and poorly performing programs further contribute to daily frustrations. Our findings indicate that specialized tools often receive lower ratings for performance. Additionally, employees value challenging work and productivity, highlighting the importance of selecting and implementing tech tools that promote both. The expectations of the Gen Z workforce, who prioritize user-friendly tech tools, further emphasize the need for businesses to provide cutting-edge solutions that reduce stress. Employers must strive to understand their employees’ needs and preferences to strike the right balance between challenge and productivity.
The Impact of AI in Today’s Workforce
Having the latest technology is not enough; businesses must focus on implementing the right technology that adds value to the employee experience. Generative and Conversational AI technologies offer numerous benefits, simplifying tasks and reducing the need for multiple applications. By leveraging AI-powered intelligent virtual assistants, employees can bypass mundane and complicated tasks, allowing them to focus on more stimulating work. It’s important to note that AI does not replace human expertise; rather, it enhances productivity and accuracy. Estimates suggest that automation could impact half of today’s work activities by 2045.
