VMware Cloud Director extension for VMware Data Solutions provides developers with the tools needed to build and run modern applications by offering a secure multi-tenant platform to interact with essential application components like databases.

Data Protection
Data loss can have severe consequences for businesses, leading to high costs and damage to reputation. Losses may occur due to hardware failures, software issues, or human errors. Regulatory requirements in many industries mandate storing backups for auditing purposes. Database administrators regularly back up data to comply with regulations and combat incidents. Managing multiple instances across different components can be complex for DBAs.
We have introduced a new “Backup & Support” page where users can backup, schedule, and restore VMware SQL with Postgres & VMware SQL with MySQL database instances.
Partners can manage backup activities, create, view, and delete backup locations, providing a self-service option to tenants, allowing developers to test new features and perform upgrades in parallel to production instances.
Tenants can create on-demand backups and schedule backups, reducing dependence on service providers and supporting scaling/migration of DB instances between clusters.
Consumption Reporting
This release introduces real-time resource consumption monitoring per database instance, aiding service providers in metering and generating usage reports to optimize data services monetization.
Template Management
Service providers can now manage and customize database templates for tenants, including cloning, editing, deleting, publishing, and unpublishing templates to enhance flexibility.
In addition to these features, upgrades and improvements have been made. Upgrading the data solutions add-on removes all legacy versions of VMware Cloud Director extension for Data Solutions add-on instances.
A notification banner has been added to highlight deployment errors.
