Application containerization is experiencing accelerated growth due to its flexibility and ability to provide out-of-the-box solutions for developers, resulting in an enhanced developer experience and increased business value.
The technology’s ability to meet the growing needs of business agility, cost reduction, and faster time-to-market has led to large-scale modernization of business-critical applications in recent years.
However, the growth doesn’t stop there. The modern applications market is projected to grow at an average rate of approximately 25% until 2027, with the adoption of container technologies by modern enterprises contributing to this growth.
VMware by Broadcom has always prioritized innovation to assist our Cloud Service Provider partners in enabling and supporting their customers’ app modernization journeys. We are excited to announce the general availability of VMware Cloud Director Container Service Extension (CSE) version 4.2.
As always, we have added enhancements that support the latest business requirements. In this release, we bring you the following:
We have added support for Tanzu Kubernetes Grid versions (TKG) 2.3.1 and 2.4.0, which support Kubernetes versions 1.25.13 to 1.27.5.
Additionally, VMware Cloud Director Container Service Extension now interoperates with VMware Cloud Director (VCD) versions 10.4.3 and 105.1.
Users can now upgrade their pre-existing clusters to the recommended Kubernetes versions using an upgraded script. For instructions on how to upgrade Kubernetes components in VMware Cloud Director Container Service Extension clusters, see our documentation.
Another update is the introduction of the VMware Cloud Director Extension for VMware Tanzu Mission Control self-managed. This exclusive plug-in is designed for Sovereign compliant VCD users to manage TKG clusters deployed through CSE.
This version of CSE features a fully integrated VMware Container Service Extension UI for Cloud Providers, with guided installation of TMC Self-Managed. It also provides a guide for onboarding tenants to TMC Self-Managed using VCD UI.
