Toshiba International Corporation (TIC) is a Toshiba America Inc. (TAI) Group Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation, and comprised of various business units including – Motors & Adjustable Frequency Drives, Power Electronics, Automotive Systems, Transportation, and Transmission & Distribution Systems. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, TIC provides application solutions to a wide range of industries including the energy sector, general industrial, automotive, IT, medical and more.

Toshiba Motors & Drives

The Motors and Drives Division is a global supplier of motors, adjustable speed drives, controls, PLCs, instrumentation, and aftermarket services. The division boasts a global supply chain with its primary manufacturing facility located in Houston, Texas. The Houston campus offers integrated services, including research and development, engineering, production, modification, and testing, which allows them to meet the demanding needs of customers’ applications. The Motors and Drives Division strives for a high level of customer satisfaction through world-class technical sales, customer service, application support and field services. As of late 2023, Automation Direct added Toshiba’s cornerstone low voltage product offerings, EQP Global® Severe Duty Motors and AS3® Adjustable Speed Drives to our vast library of products.

EQP Global Severe Duty Low Voltage Motors

Toshiba’s totally enclosed fan cooled, EQP Global® Severe Duty motor series meets the requirements of a wide range of general purpose industrial applications. The robust design and premium construction exceed most industry standards, extend operating life, and aim to minimize maintenance and downtime. The EQP Global SD series is equipped with a range of enhanced features, including an IP55 rating that protects against moisture and contaminants entering the enclosure. The heavy-duty cast-iron frame and brackets make it a preferred choice for severe environments. Oversized 300 series bearings on both ends enhance the bearing life and make it suitable for direct couple or belt drive systems. In addition, the low operating temperatures contribute to extending the insulation’s durability and overall life. Manufactured with a commitment to quality, the EQP Global Severe Duty series delivers exceptional performance and reliability in demanding applications.

Toshiba Quality

Toshiba’s high-quality reputation in the industry makes it a preferred choice for consumers seeking robust and low-maintenance products. When it comes to purchasing motors and drives, durability is a critical factor due to the high cost of maintenance, failure, and replacement. Toshiba low voltage motors and drives are developed and tested with a commitment to excellence, meeting or exceeding industry standards and providing reliability in demanding environments. With rigorous testing at every stage of development, from component sourcing to completion, these motors and drives are built to withstand tough conditions, reduce disruptions, and maximize operational efficiency.

“Toshiba is deeply committed to a high level of quality and service,” said John O’Brien, Director of Distribution Sales, Motors and Drives Division. “We have 30-year-old product that is still operational in the field, which is a testament to this commitment. Our company values are, ‘Do the right thing. Look for a better way. Always consider the impact. Create together.’ These values align with our design philosophy to build long lasting products for our customers.”

Toshiba’s Sustainability and Social Responsibility

Toshiba International Corporation is committed to maximizing its positive impact on stakeholders by providing development opportunities that emphasize ethics, compliance, cultural awareness, and environmental responsibility. TIC strives to protect the community by focusing on sustainability, responsibility, and preservation through environmental efforts. These efforts include programs aimed at conserving energy and resources, reducing CO2 emissions, and managing chemicals. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs are an integral part of Toshiba’s company culture. TIC aims to make a positive contribution to society and the environment. To achieve that goal, it is involved in various initiatives that focus on community service, STEM education, environmental sustainability, and cultural awareness. The activities include supporting the Houston Food Bank, planting Trees for Houston, and adopting the Horne Elementary School. TIC is consistently looking for new opportunities to make a difference and help those in need, as shown by their new partnership with BEAR Resource, a nonprofit providing essentials to children under the care of the Child Protective Service.

Toshiba’s Future

Toshiba’s philosophy of “Committed to People, Committed to the Future.” Demonstrates a commitment to sustainability by addressing significant global environmental issues such as climate change, circular economy, and biodiversity conservation. The company’s Environmental Future Vision 2050 guides its efforts in these areas, both in its own business activities and through its products, technologies, and services that contribute to reducing environmental impacts and enhancing social value.

Toshiba works collaboratively with industry associations, government agencies, and other companies to create a better world for future generations. They are determined to find new and innovative ways to contribute to a sustainable society that meets both environmental and developmental needs. Toshiba aims to achieve carbon neutrality and a circular economy and offers products used in various power generation applications, including carbon capture technology.

“TIC is dedicated to providing comprehensive solutions to various industries, including general industrial, oil and gas, energy & utilities, datacenters, renewables, HVAC, water/wastewater, and mining, stated Ken Takagi, Toshiba International Corporation Chairman & CEO. “By aligning our operations with sustainable practices and driving innovation in clean technologies, we aim to reduce our environmental impact and help our customers do the same.”
