Amid ongoing concerns about escalating conflict in the north, Israel’s tourism industry continues to struggle. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, there were 79,500 tourist entries into Israel in March 2024, an increase from 68,100 in February 2024 but a significant decline from 375,600 entries in March 2023. From January to March 2024, a total of 206,700 visitors entered the country, a stark contrast to the 966,200 visitors in the same period last year.
Despite airlines like El Al, Arkia, and Israir maintaining operations during the conflict, most foreign airlines suspended flights to and from Israel. While some foreign airlines have resumed flights since the beginning of the year, the influx of incoming tourists remains low, although there has been a notable increase in Israelis traveling abroad.
In March 2024, 415,300 Israelis traveled abroad, up from 343,800 in February 2024 but still lower than the 746,300 Israelis who traveled abroad in March 2023. Between January and March 2024, Israelis took 1,040,600 trips abroad, compared to 1,919,300 in the same period last year.
