Krutrim, India’s own AI company, dedicated to constructing a comprehensive AI computing stack, has successfully closed its first funding round, securing a substantial USD 50 million in equity at a valuation of USD 1 billion.
The funding round, led by prominent investors including Matrix Partners India, will be instrumental in accelerating the company’s mission to revolutionize the AI landscape, drive innovation, and expand its reach globally, the company said in its blog post.
This achievement positions Krutrim as India’s fastest Unicorn and the country’s first AI unicorn, marking a significant milestone for both the company and the Indian tech ecosystem.

Introduced last month, Krutrim is touted as “India’s first full-stack AI” solution. It is trained on 2 trillion tokens and can understand over 20 Indian languages and generate content in about 10 languages, including Marathi, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Odia, Gujarati, and Malayalam.
