If you’re lucky enough to have an outside space in your home, you’re going to want to make the most of it. With the warm weather fast approaching, now is a great time to get your space ready for the summer so you can enjoy hosting under the warm rays. Whether you want to host big BBQs with family and friends, create a relaxing space where you can do yoga or read a book, or upgrade your swimming pool, there are so many things you can do to change up the space. In this article, we look at some ways you can make your garden a real sanctuary that you can enjoy for years to come.

Think about water features

One of the most beautiful elements you can add to your home to make it a sanctuary are water features. There’s nothing quite like sitting outside to the tranquil sounds of running water. There are a host of different water features you can have, from ponds and small fountains, to larger statue type designs depending on the size of your garden. We recommend looking into trenchless plumbing as an effortless way to ensure it stays plumbed in, in the best quality for years and months to come.

Add in a decking or patio area

Decking is a fantastic thing to add if you want somewhere you can sit and have furniture on no matter the weather. It’s also a useful way of separating the different areas of your garden and ensuring you have different spaces to relax. When you add in a decking area, you should consider things such as the type of decking you want, what furniture you would like to add and how big you want it to be. Do you want to add things such as a fire pit? Or perhaps built-in furniture such as chairs, to the edge of the decking. You can add railings, steps and lights such as fairy lights to round it all off and make for a beautiful spot in your garden space.

Add wind chimes

Wind chimes are a beautiful addition to any garden. Not only do these lend a truly whimsical feel, but they also sound absolutely beautiful when there’s a breeze. Whether you’re looking to relax and sunbathe, do some yoga or read a book, the backdrop of wind chimes can really help you to get in the zone and feel totally at peace. You don’t want to add too many, too near together as the noise can become a bit much. It’s worth trying the different wind chimes out in the shop so you can listen to the different sounds and find the one you like the most.

Get a swing or hammock

Why settle for uncomfortable garden furniture when you can recline back on a swing or hammock? These are brilliant for promoting total relaxation – you can simply lie back and swing, looking up at the beautiful blue sky. You can get hammocks that stand up on their own on a stand, or ones that you can tie between trees or other objects depending on your garden space.

Pick your plants carefully

When it comes to making a tranquil space, you want to be surrounded by lush greenery that not only looks beautiful but smells it too. There are so many different plant varieties you can choose from, and we recommend heading down to a local garden centre where you can really take in the look and the scents before deciding what you want. Consider also, the weather where you live and the type of gardener you are. You might love to garden, so don’t mind if something is a little more high maintenance, but if not, this is something to consider.

These are just a few things you can do to make your garden a real sanctuary so you can appreciate it that bit more. Whether you want it to be done for entertaining, for your enjoyment, or so you can perhaps sell your house in the future, it’s good to get it done sooner rather than later. From water features to little decorative items such as wind chimes and the furniture you choose, each aspect can greatly impact what you do with your garden, and you’ll be left wondering just why you didn’t do it sooner. What are some top tips you have for making your garden a sanctuary? Let us know in the comments below, we’d love to hear from you.
