(Reuters) -Canadian union Unifor introduced Basic Motors (NYSE:) as its second bargaining goal in contract talks with the Detroit Three on Monday, a day after ratifying a brand new three-year contract with Ford Motor (NYSE:).
Unifor had set Ford as the primary goal for a sample settlement in its contract discussions with the Detroit Three in Canada. On Sunday, the union voted in favor of a brand new contract with Ford that gives wage will increase of as much as 25% to about 5,600 employees at its Canadian amenities.
“Bargaining committees will now work to barter the sample setting settlement ratified by members at Ford of Canada along with GM particular points on this second spherical of talks,” Unifor mentioned in an announcement.
Talks with GM are set to start on Tuesday, Sept. 26, the union mentioned.
In the meantime, in america, negotiators for the United Auto Staff and Ford continued bargaining, with “important gaps to shut on the important thing financial points”, the automaker mentioned in an announcement late on Sunday.
