President Joe Biden was unharmed on Sunday night after a car collided with a motorcade SUV that was part of the president’s security detail, according to a witness from Reuters.
Both Biden and First Lady Jill Biden were safe following the incident, which occurred shortly after they left his campaign headquarters.
The Bidens had just finished having a meal with members of his re-election team at the Biden-Harris 2024 headquarters in rainy downtown Wilmington at 8:07 pm (0107 GMT), as reported by the White House press pool.
A silver sedan with Delaware license plates struck one of the motorcade SUVs, which was protecting the motorcade, right after Biden answered a reporter’s question. Television footage captured secret service agents escorting Biden to his car after the collision.
The silver sedan’s bumper was damaged, and it was immediately surrounded by security officers. Agents cornered the car and drew weapons on the driver, who raised his hands.
Following the incident, the Bidens safely returned to their home in Wilmington, as confirmed by the witness.
