Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments on celebrating wealth creators in his exclusive interview with the India Today Group, India Inc came out in strong support the next day. More big names endorsed his views on Saturday.
Harsh Goenka, chairman of RPG Group, expressed his support by stating, “The building blocks of the nation will need creators of every kind. Creators of art, literature, sporting events, scientific innovation, food, hardware, software and so on. Wealth too is part of that equation because by-products of wealth creation are employment, GDP, organised commerce, entrepreneurship and everything that partners governmental interventions to development. And that ultimately births national pride.”
Haigreve Khaitan, Partner at Khaitan & Co, a well-known law firm, also backed Modi’s comments, saying, “It is only right to commend those who create wealth and opportunities not only for themselves but also the communities around them. It is through the hard work and resilience of exceptional Indians that the economy has grown from strength to strength in the past decade.”
Sanjeev Krishan, Chairperson of PwC in India, shared, “With India now among the top 5 global economies, the way we perceive and celebrate wealth creation has evolved. Today, wealth creation is not just limited to the big institutions and corporates or the big cities, it is much more mainstream in a very democratic way.”
Prime Minister Modi’s unapologetic support for celebrating wealth creators and achievers in the interview resonated with India Inc. Business leaders like Ajay Piramal, Abhinandan Lodha, Krishnan Ganesh, Manisha Girotra, and Dinesh Kanabar also strongly supported the PM’s views.
