According to CEO Romel Shetty, Deloitte plans to hire 40,000-50,000 new employees to its existing team, which currently stands at over 1.2 lakh employees, as reported by Business Today.
During an interview with Business Today TV’s Managing Editor Siddharth Zarabi, Shetty expressed his excitement about the growth prospects in India and Deloitte’s plans to hire more than 40,000 to 50,000 people over the next four to five years.
Deloitte already has a significant presence in India with approximately 120,000 employees, representing about 25% of its global workforce.
Shetty also highlighted the company’s shift in approach to India, emphasizing its transformation from an implementation hub to a driving force for global innovation.
He stated, “Now a lot of the innovation, a lot of the transformation is happening out of India, and that is something that is now being taken over globally as well to be replicated. It was a very exciting time.”
Shetty identified Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cloud Technologies as the company’s key areas of focus for continued growth.
He noted that Deloitte India is performing well across all its business segments and sees AI as a critical driver of future growth and transformation. He also highlighted the trend of companies moving to the cloud for both cost savings and fundamental business model changes.
Shetty commended the India Stack as a world-class initiative that has positioned India as a leader in digital innovation. He sees it as a powerful tool for Deloitte to help clients change their business models in collaboration with the government.
Furthermore, Shetty acknowledged the growing cyber risks in digitized environments and reassured Deloitte’s commitment to addressing them. He mentioned the company’s involvement in high-tech sectors such as semiconductors and space, indicating its focus on future-proof growth.
In addition to its core business, Deloitte is exploring opportunities to utilize agri-tech to enhance productivity and support farmers. The company is also involved in initiatives to promote and support artisans.
