It seems like I’m not the only one who has noticed the recent surge in articles expressing concern about the potential destruction of the web as we know it, largely due to the increase in AI-generated content. I too share their pessimism for the most part. It’s difficult to view the devaluation of human content as anything but a negative.
However, amidst all the negativity, I believe it is crucial to not only identify what we don’t want from the web, but also what we do want. I have articulated some of these thoughts and crafted a manifesto outlining what I believe to be a more positive vision for the web. It encompasses values that many of us already hold dear and strive to embody each day. For me, it serves as a reminder of what truly matters, the reasons behind our actions, and how we can work towards a better web. It is a work in progress — a digital garden of sorts, subject to evolution over time. It is rooted in hope.
