Union minister Anurag Thakur compared Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, to former Bihar CM Rabri Devi. Thakur criticized Sunita for addressing the media twice since Kejriwal’s arrest on March 21.
Speaking at a gathering in Jammu, Thakur said Sunita Kejriwal’s actions resemble those of Rabri Devi, who took over as Bihar CM after Lalu Prasad Yadav’s arrest in the fodder scam. He mentioned how Rabri Devi started by making announcements on behalf of Lalu Yadav and eventually became Bihar CM.
Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi CM and AAP chief, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with an alleged money laundering case linked to the repealed Delhi excise policy.
Sunita Kejriwal has communicated through two video messages since last week. In her first message on Saturday, she read out her husband’s statement from jail soon after his arrest. In her second appearance on Wednesday, she mentioned that Kejriwal will reveal crucial information related to the excise policy scam in court on March 28.
She also shared that Kejriwal, despite health issues, remains determined to address the problems faced by the people of Delhi. Sunita expressed concern over the central government’s actions against her husband.
On March 27, the Delhi high court denied interim relief to Arvind Kejriwal, who remains in ED’s custody. The court scheduled the next hearing for April 3.
The ED is expected to present Kejriwal in court on Thursday as his current remand ends. There is a possibility of the ED requesting an extension of custody or judicial custody.
